5-Minute Tuna Rice Bowl

This Tuna Rice Bowl is a quick and satisfying meal made with warm rice, tuna, and a simple savoury sauce. Perfect for lunch or an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 250g packet microwave Jasmine rice (or your favourite blend)
  • 185g can tuna, drained
  • 2 tablespoons good quality mayonnaise (whole egg or kewpie)
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 spring onion, finely sliced
  • Chilli oil or chilli flakes, optional

Instructions

  • Heat the microwave rice according to packet directions. Divide the hot rice between two bowls.
  • Place the drained tuna in a small bowl. Gently flake with a fork.
  • Add mayonnaise, soy sauce, and sesame oil to the tuna. Mix until creamy and combined.
  • Spoon the tuna mixture over the hot rice.
  • Scatter sliced green onions over the top and add chilli oil or chilli flakes if you like heat. Add any additional toppings of your choice Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Measurements: We use Australian tablespoons and cups: 1 teaspoon = 5 ml, 1 tablespoon = 20 ml & 1 cup =  250 ml.
  • Flavoured Tuna: Try flavoured tuna such as chilli tuna or lemon pepper tuna for extra flavour. Reduce the soy sauce slightly if the tuna already contains seasoning.
  • Rice Options: You can use microwave jasmine rice, sushi rice, brown rice, quinoa, or flavoured rice packets. Any quick heat grain works well for this Tuna Rice Bowl. You can also cook your preferred rice or use any leftover rice you may have in the fridge.
  • Extra Toppings: Add avocado, cucumber, sesame seeds, shredded carrot, or a fried egg to customise your Tuna Rice Bowl.
